Lawwell’s 10IAR ambition as Shane Duffy responds to Brighton wages dig

SHANE DUFFY has responded to a dig by Brighton fans on social media after the club voted to charged £14.95 for PPV games. The Celtic defender, on loan from the Premier League side, was caught in the crossfire and he decided to respond to claims that Brighton were subsidising his wages.

The 28-year-old confirmed that Celtic were playing Duffy’s full wage, despite the claim from the social media user that he was receiving £25k from the seaside club. As per Spotrac, Duffy is on £40k a week with Graham Potter’s side, a bill which Celtic are picking up.

The defender inadvertently confirmed Peter Lawwell’s ambition in deciding to pay the full wage packet of the Premier League defender. Celtic are looking to surpass Jock Stein’s 1974 record of 9IAR and Lawwell, to his credit, helped retain Celtic’s stars and bring in some new faces to compete.

Celtic signed Moi Elyounoussi on another loan deal, Albian Ajeti, David Turnbull and Vasilis Barkas as well as loan deal for Diego Laxalt and Duffy.

Duffy will be looking forward to his first Glasgow Derby experience next weekend and will hope to be the difference as Celtic look to go top. Celtic will be without Odsonne Edouard, Ryan Christie, Nir Bitton and James Forrest for the game so it is time for players to step up to the occasion.
