Lazio Arrive, that Benkovic Rumour and Tommy Johnson

Lazio have touched down in Glasgow ahead of tomorrow’s Europa League clash at Celtic Park. The Italians arrived this evening and will train on the Celtic Park turf tonight ahead of tomorrow’s fixture.

Earlier this evening, Simone Inzaghi spoke to the press about the upcoming fixture and his side’s start to the season.

Speaking to the S.S. Lazio Twitter, the Lazio legend said that he is looking forward to being part of the Celtic Park spectacle for a famous European night.

“”I only think of tomorrow’s game, we know we will have little time to prepare for the Florence match but we will do everything to honor the Europa League. Playing similar games, in frames like Celtic Park, will be nice for my kids.”

Meanwhile, Leicester City’s Filip Benkovic could be set for a sensational Celtic return after ex-Celtic manager, Brendan Rodgers appeared to sanction a loan move for the young Croatian.

The 22-year-old hasn’t played for the first team since returning to the Midlands from Glasgow and it could suit both parties if Benkovic returns to Celtic.

In his time at Parkhead, Benkovic clearly enjoyed the atmosphere and the winning mentality that completing a Treble Treble brings and if it means that he can provide cover, thus easing the workload of Jullien and Ajer then a move makes sense.

Would we rather have our own players? Yes; but Benkovic provides a quality that would be potentially out-with Celtic’s budget. Remove any reservations that you have about the Leicester manager, Benkovic would be a good signing and we should put our name in the hat for him.

Elsewhere, ex-Celt Tommy Johnson, who last week rejected the chance to work with Henrik Larsson at Southend – has been appointed Head of Recruitment at Blackpool.

The Gateshead-born striker was expected to join Southend with Larsson and another ex-Celt, Johan Mjallby in the same role; however the deal fell apart when it was revealed that Johnson had decided to accept Blackpool’s offer.
