Leeds United appointed new manager after Ange showed he wasn’t interested

Leeds United have appointed Javi Gracia as their new manager replacing Jesse Marsch. The Elland Road club sacked the American manager after a disappointing year in charge and had been credited as admirers of Ange Postecoglou.

Gracia, who was in charge of Watford’s run to the 2019 FA Cup Final, arrives on a flexible contract and is tasked with keeping the Yorkshire club in the Premier League. The 52-year-old is expected to take charge of the team as they face fellow strugglers Southampton at the weekend. Best of luck to them, but it was clear that Ange was never interested in jumping ship at this stage.

Ange spoke today as the Scottish Champions prepare for Sunday’s Glasgow Derby Viaplay Cup Final against Rangers and was fully focused on the task in hand. This was the same as the Scottish Cup game against St Mirren, where Ange refused to even engage with the question. Celtic and the manager were clear, he wasn’t interested in moving.

From the outset, Ange has said that he is building something at Celtic. Inevitably, he will move on and there will likely be a few teams tracking his progress. Although, the Australian appears determined to crack Europe and dominate domestically. Leeds didn’t make their approach, knowing the answer.
