Lenny in Striker Hunt – ‘We have three at the minute but we always like to go with four’

NEIL LENNON watched Leigh Griffiths and Vakoun Issouf Bayo both score in the 2-1 victory over Wiener SC yesterday and then revealed that he’s looking to add a fourth striker to his squad this summer.

Here’s the post match verdict from the Bhoys on Celtic Fans TV…

Celtic new signing, one of our Likely Lads, was at the game yesterday and spoke to Celtic TV…

Odsonne Edouard single handedly led the line for Celtic last season after the sale of Moussa Dembele to Lyon at the end of August. Leigh Griffiths had personal issues to deal with that kept him on the sidelines, and Bayo, a £2million signing at the end of December, ruptured his hamstring on international duty and was unable to contribute.

Both returning stars found the back of the net yesterday – Griffiths also scored in the first pre-season match in midweek but The Celtic manager wants another striker to add to his options for the coming season.

And that meant that, as is invariably the case since his arrival in August 2016, Scotty Sinclair was called upon to help deliver the necessary in terms of scoring goals. And while there has been some speculation about a move back to England for the former Aston Villa man, Neil Lennon confirmed that there’s been no bids and Sinclair is happy at Celtic.

“There’s nothing in that one that I’m aware of. Scott had another decent year in terms of his goal return and he has looked after himself really well over the summer and come back in really good condition.

“We are not looking to sell but there might be interest in him. It just hasn’t manifested itself.

“I think Scott is happy here. The family is settled and he has had a great time of it at Celtic. The club has won nine trophies in three years and he has been a big part of that,” Lenny continued, as reported by Daily Mail.

“He has come back in even better condition than he was at the end of last season and he has had the bit between the teeth in training.”

And despite liking what he’s seen from his two returning strikers – both of whom he’s gone out of the way to praise through the pre-season, Lennon remains on the look-out for a fourth striker – and that means a new signing.

“We have three at the minute but we always like to go with four,” Lenny said. Changed days indeed from Rodgers fretting over whether he could have as many as three strikers in his squad.
