Let’s stage a huge Celtic Party at Tynecastle on Sunday 29 May

Scottish Women’s Cup Final to be held at Tynecastle on Sunday 29 May – Let’s have a huge Celtic Party…

A week on Sunday the two Scottish Women’s Cup semi-finals will take place at Falkirk Stadium, which of course is the same day as the Scottish Premiership Glasgow Derby match at Celtic Park against Old Firm FC.

Celtic will play Hearts in one of the semi-finals while Glasgow City will play Partick Thistle – who shocked Hibs in the quarter finals – in the other. Celtic had taken care of theRangers in the previous round, just as we had done in the League Cup last autumn. Without counting chickens, anything other that a Celtic FC Women v Glasgow City Scottish Cup Final would be a major surprise, to say the least.

These two sides met in the League Cup Final, after winning their semi-finals which were played on the same day at the same venue, on that occasion Forth Bank, Stadium in Stirling. It’s not something I’ll forget because during the game the terribly sad news broke that Bertie Auld had passed away. Celtic were a goal behind to Hibs when the news broke but within ten minutes or so had turned that round to win the match 2-1. Appropriately enough.

The League Cup final against the current Scottish Champions Glasgow City took place at Firhill early in December and Celtic won the match 1-0 but dominated from start to finish in what was an impressive showing. That was the performance of the season from Fran Alonso’s side perhaps the closed they’ve come to matching that was in the recent game at Celtic Park which the Ghirls won 4-0 against Hibs.

In both these matches there were crowds of around 5000 and both were brilliant performances from Celtic backed by a sizeable support with the Green Brigade coming along to add non stop signing to the most recent game. Celtic at their best when they have a sizeable backing from Celtic supporters – who would have thought it!

Today it was announced that the Scottish Women’s Cup Final will be held on Sunday 29 May at Tynecastle and that it will be shown live on BBC Alba. But rather than watch it on television why not get along to the game? If Celtic get past Hearts in the semi-final let’s take a huge, vocal Celtic support to the game. For those in the Celtic Supporters Association and the Affiliation of Registered Celtic Supporters Clubs and also those running independent buses, why not make this a day to remember for Fran Alonso and his exciting Celtic FC Women side?

For The Celtic fan media, the podcasts and the blogs who sometimes cover the women’s game and sometime don’t this is a chance to really get behind the Ghirls and help deliver the Scottish Cup. Look, shortly theRangers Women side are going to be ‘crowned’ Champions, ending Glasgow City’s long domination in the league. The noise that will be coming out of Ibrox on this will be significant and it has to be said they are deserving their title, they are currently unbeaten in the league and have only lost twice all season, both times to Celtic who knocked them out of both the League Cup and the Scottish Cup.

Celtic have never won the Women’s Scottish Cup, having previously won the League Cup a decade or so ago. History can be made at Tynecastle on Sunday 29 May, Glasgow City will only have a small support so we can fill Tynecastle and make this a Celtic party to remember, assuming we beat Hearts next Sunday in the semi-final.

Let the Ghirls get us into the Final first then if that happens let fill Tynecastle with Celtic supporters and an end of season Celtc party!
