Following in the footsteps of her brother, Forrest proved the difference on the big stage, scoring twice in quick succession to guide her side to their first triumph in the competition in over a decade.

James and Lisa’s other brother Alan were in attendance at Fir Park with another trophy secured for the Forrest household.

The breakthrough for City came from a set-piece situation, as Forrest reacted quickest at the back post to turn home a delivery from the left.

Moments later, she produced a moment of individual brilliance, cutting inside from the flank before unleashing a powerful strike from outside the box that flew into the top corner.

The Ibrox club did manage to respond late on through Katie Wilkinson, though the goal served only as a consolation as Glasgow City held firm to seal the win.

Speaking post-match to Gordon Duncan, Forrest joked about the family bragging rights her performance would earn, hinting Lisa would not waste any time reminding her brothers James and Alan of her cup-final heroics.

She might also ask her brothers who in the family has scored the most goals against a Rangers! Jamesy has just one!

“It feels amazing. I can’t really put it into words right now,” she told Sky Sports. “I’m just so glad for the team. It’s amazing. I just want to help the team as much as I can by leading the line so it’s a full team performance today.”

“We are just happy overall. I think it gave the full team confidence. For the second one, my teammates are always on to me for not shooting enough, so I looked up and saw the goal and thought I’m just going to hit it, and see what happens.

“I’m just grateful it went in. I think it’s got to be the top ranked goal I’ve scored. I’m buzzing. Yeah, I’ll be showing him my goals [James] later on!”

Well done Lisa!

The Celtic Star’s previously comprehensive coverage of women’s football in Scotland covering every match and media conference relating to Celtic FC Women has been halted by the petty actions of a Celtic Board frightened to face any sort of scrutiny.
