Lisa Robertson called up to Scotland team but just one Celt

Lisa Robertson has been called up to the Scotland Women’s Team for friendly games against Northern Ireland and Wales. The Celtic midfielder has been one of Fran Alonso’s most consistent performers and has been named in Stuart McLaren’s squad for two friendlies in June.

However, there was no place for Sarah Ewens, who struck a hat-trick against Forfar Farmington yesterday. Given the form of Alonso’s side, who have been excellent in recent weeks, sitting second in the league, you would expect maybe more than one Celtic players in the National Team.

Scotland will play two games, the first will be Northern Ireland v Scotland at Seaview Stadium, Belfast on Thursday, 10 June 2021, kicking off 7pm. Then Wales v Scotland at Parc y Scarlets, Llanellii, Wales on Tuesday, 15 June 2021, kicking off at 7.15pm.

Hopefully Celtic can finish the season strongly against Motherwell with the homegrown players showing McLaren what he is missing.

Best of luck to Lisa!
