Lisbon Lions Go To A Replay In Vote To Be Crowned Team Of The Century

BT Sport Football have been asking the question – who is the greatest club side of the last century?

Having seen off the likes of Brian Clough’s Nottingham Forest and Matt Busby’s Manchester United, the Lisbon Lions reached the final, where they were compared to the 2008/09 treble winning Barcelona team.

After 100,000 votes the results were exactly 50/50! Meaning a replay takes place today:

These are two great teams but the Lions made history, becoming the first Non-Latin team to lift the European Cup, pioneering an attacking style of play against the defensive giants of Europe, with 11 local players. Nothing in football compares as the stats show, with over 40 attempts on goal against the greatest defence in the continent. So head on to Twitter and get the surviving heroes the crown they deserve!
