Lisbon Lions Voted Greatest Team Of The Century

BT Sport ran a poll to ask fans who the greatest club team was in the last century.

Celtic’s Lisbon Lions were included in the list of 32 and matched against the Nottingham Forrest’s 77-80 squad, AC Milan’s 88-90 team, the Man United squad from 1965-68 as well as the dominant 2014-15 Barcelona squad.

Breezing aside them all, the Lions were paired against the 2008/09 treble winning Barcelona team. After 100,000 votes the contest was a tie so a replay was held with Celtic the victors, having 54% of the vote after 85,000 people took part.

The victory gives publicity to a wonderful side, who racked up 40 attempts on goal against one of the greatest defences in the European Cup final. The fact that 11 Scotsmen won that day adds to the mystique of the story.
