Loan Watch – Luca Connell bags assist in Queen Park debut

Luca Connell made his debut for Queen’s Park today and the 19-year-old made an immediate impact, assisting with the opener in the win over Stranraer. The ex-Bolton youngster has failed to make a breakthrough thus far at Celtic but he has enjoyed a good start to his loan spell with the Spiders.

The Celtic youngster was also awarded MOTM for his performance in the midfield, something that will give him an enormous amount of confidence after his debut.

Connell’s weighted free-kick was met by Lee Kilday to give Ray McKinnon’s side the lead. Connell has been tipped for a Celtic breakthrough since joining from Bolton Wanderers in 2019. Connell has had to bide his time for game time so far, only appearing for the youth team.

Connell, a regular with Ireland’s U19 side, joined on the same day as Ryan Mullen but his Celtic colleague watched from the bench as Queen’s Park. Hopefully both are able to use the spell with the League Two side to gain much needed experience before returning to Celtic for pre-season.

  1. I don’t know why this lad hasn’t had a real sniff at the first team. I hope he does well at Lesser Hampden and comes back ready to fight for a place.
