Local sources claim Foxes’ hunt for French Eddy has intensified

He seems to have been linked with every club under the sun over the duration of his Celtic career, but constant sources linking Odsonne Edouard to Leicester City seem to be becoming more and more commonplace, suggesting a move is perhaps imminent.

That is according to a report by The Leicester Mercury, with quotes attributed to TEAMtalk – who claim that “sources with knowledge of the situation have told us that Edouard is almost certainly heading to the King Power”. They claim that Leicester have seen off competition from a whole host of other leading clubs, such as Arsenal, Borussia Dortmund and Liverpool; with the latter reportedly offering Divock Origi to Celtic in a swap deal. This was a non-starter though, as Edouard snubbed the opportunity despite a personal phone call from manager Jurgen Klopp, presumably over game time at Anfield.

There is the obvious reason for newspapers to link the Frenchman to the King Power Stadium with Brendan Rodgers being manager of the East Midlands club; however, with Leicester recently utilising a 3-4-1-2 formation due to the unstoppable form of Kelechi Iheanacho, the Foxes’ will be threadbare upfront if either the Nigerian or stalwart Jamie Vardy end up injured, which gives the report more substance.

Edouard would be a suitable back up option for the two; and with Vardy approaching the ripe age of 35 next year, Leicester may have to look into suitable options to replace their all-time leading Premier League goalscorer for the future – something which Edouard is more than capable of doing, especially in Europe next season, which the Foxes look destined to qualify for.
