Looking forward to Matt Corr’s big night at the Kerrydale

Next Thursday, 19 October, sees the launch of my fellow Celtic Star writer and author Matt Corr’s new book Majic, Stan and the King of Japan at the Kerrydale Suite at Celtic Park and there’s an incredible line-up of Celtic guests put together by The Celtic Star.

The book is of course all about Gordon Strachan’s wonderful first season in charge of Celtic. It really was a remarkable campaign and some important characters from that season will be at the Kerrydale including, John Hartson who will be interviewed by Tino from The Celtic Exchange and there will also be a chance for the supporters to ask the Big Bad John some questions.

Also present will be ex Celt Tommy Callaghan who played for the club in the 1970s and has the distinction of being the only player signed twice by the legend that was Jock Stein. Tommy will also answer questions from the floor.

It also happens to be the anniversary of the famous Hampden in the sun 7-1 league cup final humbling of Rangers so we can look forward to great tales of that historic day and Boolavogue will remember that sunny afternoon in song while there will also be a special tribute to David Potter, author of Willie Fernie’s Putting on the Style biography on Celtic Star Books.

Sadly it is also the anniversary of the late Johnny Doyle who passed away on that day in 1981, and we can expect a poignant tribute to the former hoops winger.

Tommy Sheridan is also appearing to pay special tributes to two famous Celts, the legendary Willie Maley and his great friend Frank McGarvey who we lost at the start of this year.

The opening guest for the night is going to be announced today and he might even bring along some bling to add to the three trophies Celtic won last season – The Scottish Premiership trophy, the Scottish Cup and the League Cup, which will annoyingly be leaving Celtic Park soon so this will be the last chance for a wee while to get your photograph taken with with Treble trophies!

Copies of Majic, Stan and the King of Japan will be available for the first time ahead of its release the next day.

It’s set to be an emotional but brilliant night, with plenty of Celtic chat and song from the brilliant Boolavogue, and an opportunity to get a photo with all three trophies won from last season which will proudly be on display.

There’s also chance to purchase signed books and great music will be supplied by the brilliant Boolavogue, oh aye and free pies! What more can you ask for! Most importantly it’s to recognise the incredible commitment of a Celtic writer like Matt Corr whose attention to detail is second to none in his wonderful books like Invincible and Harry Hood, Twice as Good.

And in true charitable style Matt Corr and The Celtic Star are kindly donating 25 percent of the ticket sales to the Celtic Foundation, together with a brilliant book promotion which will also benefit the Celtic Foundation over the next three months.

Tickets for The Celtic Star’s night at the Kerrydale are selling fast and are a reasonably priced at £20 each or £180 for a table of ten. So get yourself along and enjoy a great night of Celtic chat, a hopefully hot Parkhead pie and plenty of wonderful music while also helping a great cause. Hope to see you there. The action kicks off at 7pm sharp and doors are open from 6.30pm and this brilliant night ends at midnight.

The Celtic Star photographers will be at the Kerrydale too so we’ll have plenty of great photos to share and we’ll be happy to pass these on to supporters. Book your tickets by clicking on the image below…

About Author

An ordinary everyday Celtic supporters hailing and still residing in Govan in the shadows of the enemy. I’m a season ticket holder. I Witnessed my first Celtic game in 1988 and have attended when I can ever since. Growing up in the 90s I witnessed Celtic at their lowest, and now appreciate the historic success we enjoy today. I enjoy writing about this wonderful football club and hopefully will continue to do so. I’ve always been a keen writer and initially started this a hobby. My ambition is to one day become as good an author as my fellow Celtic Star colleagues.
