Luca Connell and Ryan Mullen complete moves to Queen’s Park

Celtic youth duo Luca Connell and Ryan Mullen have completed loan moves to Queen’s Park until the end of the season. The pair join The Spiders as they look to push for promotion from SPFL League Two. Neither Mullen nor Connell have broken into the Celtic first team yet but this move will allow them some game time as they look to force their way into the new manager’s thoughts ahead of next season.

Mullen was on loan at Cove Rangers but has switched Paul Hartley side and the North East for the South Side of Glasgow. Connell meanwhile has been tipped for a Celtic breakthrough since joining from Bolton Wanderers in 2019. Connell has had to bide his time for game time so far, only appearing for the youth team. Meanwhile, Mullen has had opportunities to play first team football recently with Cove. The 19-year-old has turned out for Scotland’s U19 and U17 sides and has been a feature in the Celtic Development side in the last season.

Ray McKinnon expressed his delight at signing the player, speaking to the club website.

“I am absolutely delighted to get both deals over the line and get the players in for what is going to be a very busy period ahead.

“We have needed cover in the goalkeeping position and have been actively looking for some time so it’s very pleasing to have the opportunity to bring Ryan in. Luca is a very talented player who is left sided which will give us good balance in the squad and added competition for places.

“The acquisition of both players really does strengthen the squad for the run in.”
