Lyon President confirms €22.5m transfer fee for Dembele

THE LYON President, as we outlined in detail for you on The Celtic Star, set about getting his man, promising to ‘work through the night’ last night in the pursuit.

Well he was as good as his word and set about showing the Celtic boardroom big hitters that they still have a thing or two to learn when playing with the Big Boys.

Peter Lawwell was hung out to dry by the sheer ruthlessness shown by Lyon’s President Jean-Michel Aulas.

It really was a case of Men Against Bhoys and Lawwell was out-smarted, out-bunched and knocked out by the ferocious Frenchman who always seems to get his man.

Dembele and his agent had clear instructions to hit Celtic where it hurts – the entire strategy that Lawwell has tried to put in place was threatened. Sell the striker to Lyon or your name will be ruined and in future no players like van Dijk, or Dembele will come to Parkhead.

It was game, set and match and Brendan Rodgers’ reputation was being – so unfairly damaged. It may be just business Moussa and nothing personal, but that was shameful.

Celtic got the van Dijk windfall and then just ignored it. The money was never going to be re-invested in the team. Now they have the €22.5 million from Lyon.

But we lost £30million Peter, because you did not sign a few defenders. Every supporter knew but you to your poodles to write crap claiming we’d win the league for ever and ever.

This summer they have been found out, these poodles. That’e the only good thing we can say about this transfer window.
