Madrid’s Karim Benzema returns to training but may miss Celtic match

Ballon D’Or winner Karim Benzema returned to training with Real Madrid yesterday as Carlo Ancelotti’s side prepare to host Celtic in the Champions League. The French striker has been suffering from a fatigue-related muscular thigh injury but was pictured back in training.

However, Marca , claim that the hitman will miss the game as Ancelotti doesn’t wish to rush the player back given his injury concerns this season. Madrid have already sealed their place in the Last 16 as they look to retain their European crown.

Celtic are playing for a win in the final Group Stage match of the Champions League whilst Los Blancos will be fighting to secure the top spot against RB Leipzig, who visit Warsaw to play Shakhtar Donetsk.

Whilst Benzema is a doubt, Madrid will be without Aurelien Tchouameni. Celtic have had their fair share of injuries throughout this campaign. Carl Starfelt is working his way back from injury and hopefully he can make his bow in the final game of the European journey for this season.
