Maeda on the bench, hopefully he’s stay there – Watch Japan play Saudi Arabia live on One Football now

It is with bated breath Celtic supporters look to Japan’s World Cup qualifier with Saudi Arabia this morning, given Daizen Maeda’s call up to the national team.

Daizen Maeda has had to settle for a cameo appearance as a substitute in Japan’s 2-0 win over China in Group B of the Asian Qualifiers for the World Cup Qatar 2022 last time out and the good news at the moment is he starts the game as a substitute again today – the story will be however; will he remain there or will he play a part.

Maeda came on as a 58th minute substitute for Vissel Kobe’s Yuya Osako against China, to ensure the hectic travelling was made worthwhile, and it is the same player who starts ahead of Celtic’s January transfer window signing today.

With Ange Postecoglou not ruling out any of his international players from Wednesday’s Glasgow Derby, but at the same time stating if those involved play for their country, they would not be considered, there will be more than a few Celtic supporters around the World joining the Celtic manager in keeping a watchful eye on this encounter, and perhaps hoping Maeda gets a view from the substitutes bench for 90 minutes, rather than any time on the grass.

The match has just kicked off and you can watch it live in One Football, the biggest football app in the World. Did you know that The Celtic Star supplies One Football with their Celtic content for both Ange Postecoglou and Fran Alonso’s sides, helping to get The Celtic message out all over the world!

As a Bellshill Bhoy I was taken to my first Celtic game in the summer of 1987. It was Billy McNeill’s return to Celtic Park as manager and Celtic lost 5-1 to Arsenal . I thought I was a jinx, I think my Grandfather might have thought the same. It was the finest gift anyone ever gave me when he walked me through Parkhead's gates.
