Major blow for Celtic’s Scottish Cup opponents

Celtic’s Scottish Cup opponents Inverness CT have been dealt a major blow with results this evening confirming they would be finishing outside the play-off places. Ayr United won in The Highlands to deprive Billy Dodds’ team of a place in the Championship play-offs.

Josh Mullin and Mark McKenzie’s goals from the Ayrshire club made it 2-1 at Full Time. This means that ICT will face almost a month of inactivity before the Scottish Cup Final on June 3rd at Hampden Park. This will pose a conundrum for Dodds and his team, who will struggle to keep their sharpness ahead of the momentous occasion against Ange Postecoglou’s Treble chasers.

The Highlanders beat Falkirk in the Semi Final to seal their place in the showpiece Final before a Jota goal gave Celtic the win over Rangers to book their place in the Final.

Elsewhere, Dundee FC confirmed their promotion to the Cinch Premiership with an enthralling 5-3 win over Queen’s Park at Ochilview Stadium. Owen Coyle’s side will face Partick Thistle with the winners playing against Ayr United.
