If a manager has a shelf life, surely a CEO does too?

DAVID POTTER submitted an article last night to The Celtic Star because he was angered by the BBC coverage on the current situation at Celtic.

There’s a report on the BBC website this morning where they are interviewing Kris Boyd, the benched Kilmarnock striker and Rangers cheerleader about his thoughts on what’s going on at Celtic.

Apparently Olivier Ntcham, after being excellent for four games, hasn’t kicked a ball since Moussa Dembele left and that’s proof that there is a split in the Celtic dressing room.

Divide and conquer eh Kris?

Ntcham played against Rangers after Dembele left, Kris. He scored and was man of the match.

He then got sent off in the first half at St Mirren – Andrew Dallas was itching to get the card out Kris, remember?

He was suspended at the weekend, so never kicked a ball, just like yourself Kris.

Celtic need to start to use this stuff to our advantage. Although to be fair to Boyd there is internal Celtic nonsense that does the cause no good whatsoever.

“This one is for Brendan,” tweeted one of Lawwell’s laddies on Sunday night then posted three or four China themed music videos. This was the same guy who said he’d sack Rodgers in the summer. Add those China hints to the E-Tims diary yesterday and you start to come to the conclusion that there are those who would undermine the current Celtic manager from within the club.

That sort of stuff makes blue-noses like Kris Boyd redundant in their task.

Brendan Rodgers may well have had offers from elsewhere – he came to Celtic with a BIG reputation and has won 6 trophies from 6 in the game up here. He is a highly regarded football manager and obviously there is going to be interest.

Same goes with the players and agents etc are always working in the background. Remember when Stuart Armstrong signed for Southampton and their manager spoke of his delight at winning the race for the player as there were three of four other Premiership sides in for the Celtic man?

We heard nothing of any of those conversations but they went on and they happen in the game.

We know Rodgers was unhappy with the summer window and most of us accept that there is tension between him and Peter Lawwell. There was supposed to be a review meeting during the International break but we didn’t get any info on how that went.

There has also been plenty said about the failures in the January window and if the summer failures can be blamed on Lawwell then the response is the blame the poor signings in the January window on Rodgers.

Hopefully all of that has been sorted out and the focus is on winning games. Brendan demands a 100% focus from his players to be the best and has got where he is today by giving 100% to his coaching and managing.

There will come a time when it’s time to go – just like any other manager. The most we could hope for is Brendan stays for the 10IAR bid but maybe that won’t happen. This season is the crucial one if we are going to get here.

If a manager has a shelf life, surely a CEO does too?
