Manager’s Thoughts on Table Topping Celts

Neil Lennon has reflected on a tough win for his side after a good run of fixtures, but has expressed his delight at the team breaking down St Mirren and collecting all three points. Speaking to the Celtic FC’s Twitter, the manager reflected on the game, James Forrest’s performance, Scott Brown’s injury scare and Greg Taylor’s debut.

“It was a difficult game, difficult opponents and difficult circumstances off the back of the intensity of the last few games. The response after half-time was fantastic and my only gripe is we didn’t win the game by more.”

“It was a good performance in the midst of a very heavy schedule of games.”

Goals from Mohamed Elyounoussi and James Forrest gave Celtic all the points versus a spirited St Mirren side. It was Forrest, who signed a new contract 2023 today, who was singled out by the manager.

“James was brilliant. He’s priceless to me. His all round game was exceptional. That’s ten goals and quarter of the season in. An amazing return for a wide player.”

The manager also gave an update on Scott Brown, who was replaced by Olivier Ntcham after pulling up with an injury.

“He tweaked his thigh. He came off straight away. We will assess him tomorrow but we didn’t want to take any chances. We’ll see how he is overnight.”

Meanwhile, Lenny also gave his say on Greg Taylor’s long awaited Celtic debut as the left-back came in for Boli Bolingoli.

“Good debut. Solid. What you’d expect from Greg. He can be delighted and you have to remember that was his first game in a long time so important to get minutes.”
