Marco Tilio pens emotional goodbye message to Melbourne City after Celtic move

Celtic signing Marco Tilio has penned an emotional goodbye message to Melbourne City after his move to Scotland was confirmed. The 21-year-old Australian Internationalist arrives on a five-year-deal as he becomes Brendan Rodgers’ second signing of the summer.

The deal is said to be a record for an A-League club to receive, putting it around the £2m mark. The Scottish Champions appear to be keen to do their business early. With thirteen goals in thirty-six appearances for the A-League side last season, Tilio was revered by Melbourne and he recognised that in his post.

The player was named in the A-League Team of the Year for this season and he will be hoping for a similar impact in Scotland. Tilio will have the example of Aaron Mooy, Tom Rogic and Scott McDonald as Aussie players that have come to Scotland and had an impact at Celtic.

Odin Thiago Holm was the first signing and it looks as if he is a direct replacement for Tilio’s compatriot Aaron Mooy, who retired from football last week. Tilio may very well be a direct replacement for Jota, who looks set to leave the club for a lucrative move to Saudi Arabia.
