Medical soon: Celtic ace set to complete £3.5m exit as he flies out for his medical

It’s unlikely that any new signings will be confirmed until some appointments are made, but at least Celtic are pushing on with clearing the squad to prepare for a rebuild.

Patryk Klimala did have some nice moments during his time at Celtic Park but he also looked like the kind of player who needed a proper run of games and time to build his sharpness – something he was unlikely to get.

The Sun have reported that he’s now set to complete his expected exit to MLS side New York Red Bulls, and he’s already flown out to complete the paperwork and have his medical so it looks like the deal is pretty much done.

Interestingly Celtic will manage to recoup the entire £3.5m fee that they paid for him although it’s reported that the deal is worth “up to” that, so he may have to hit certain numbers out there for that fee to be fully paid.

We probably didn’t see the best of him at Celtic so it’s hard to tell if he should’ve been given more time, but it does mean the attacking unit needs to be addressed next season.

Klimala will leave and Elyounoussi will go back to Southampton, while Eddy also looks set to leave and Leigh Griffiths could be on his way too.

That really just leaves Albian Ajeti who hasn’t been impressive either, so hopefully there will be at least two exciting additions to the squad this summer.
