Michael O’Halloran Spotted at Celtic Park – Latest Mystery

IT has been a strange old week in the world of Celtic and it could just be about to become pretty weird.

Looks cards on the table with this one, we don’t know anything about this other than what we’re about to show you, and we don’t even know if we can believe our own eyes or indeed if this is genuine, but having established that here goes…

They say that every picture tells a story and if that’s true then this is a particularly far-fetched Celtic story.

That looks like Michael O’Halloran and his old man – a coach at Celtic – walking through the front door at Celtic Park with someone else. The third mystery man is NOT the player’s agent Kenny Moyes.

Despite being a self-confessed Celtic supporter, O’Halloran signed for the Rangers a few years ago but was never really happy at Ibrox and perhaps he wasn’t made welcome by their supporters. He was seen shaking Celtic hands inside the tunnel at Celtic Park after the 7 in a row title win which was secured by that 5-0 win over the Rangers and he was then photographed attending the Scottish Cup Final against Motherwell when the double treble was won.

O’Halloran’s agent even had to issue a formal apology, such was the outrage among the hordes about a Celtic supporter attending the Cup Final.

“Michael didn’t realise he would be surrounded by Celtic fans but hindsight is a great thing and he now regrets the decision as he accepts it doesn’t look too good,” Moyes said. He is Davie’s brother in case you are wondering.

“I know he is taking some stick from the Rangers fans but he absolutely wasn’t at Hampden as a Celtic supporter. He’s a Rangers player.

“He is concerned at how it looks to the Rangers supporters but he thought he would be in a neutral section and didn’t realise until it was too late.

“Motherwell were keen on signing Michael in January and he requested a ticket for the Cup Final through the SFA to watch the game as a neutral.

“I don’t believe you shouldn’t be allowed to go and watch a game. If he knew where he was going to be sitting then he wouldn’t have gone.

“I requested a ticket through the SFA for the match and I was surrounded by Celtic fans. It was hard to get tickets for the game and Motherwell handed some back so the majority of the seats were filled by Celtic fans,” Moyes said in his statement which was reported in Daily Record.

After a loan spell back at St Johnstone he headed over to Australia to play for Melbourne City but injury problems brought that venture to a premature conclusion and he came back last season to join up with Tommy Wright for a third stint at the Perth club.

That looked like being where he’d be spending next season. Speaking last week about re-gaining full fitness and being ready to get back to his best for the new season O’Halloran seemed excited about the new season.

“It was only in the last few weeks of the season I felt like I was getting back to myself,” he said, as reported by Scottish Sun.

“It takes time for the sharpness to come back and we were always looking forward to getting a good pre-season into me. You need that summer work to have the core fitness for the months ahead.

“I knew my sharpness wouldn’t be there straight away when I came back. It was always going to take a while and the gaffer knew it. It takes you ten or 15 games when you’ve been out for as long as I had been.

“I have had a few weeks off but was still working. I can’t sit around doing nothing so I’ve been putting in plenty of fitness work. I’ve had three or four of the gaffer’s pre-seasons so I know what to expect. It’s tough, he doesn’t spare you.

“But you can see from how we end every season that it works because we always seem to come on even stronger in the last ten games or so.”

So why has Michael O’Halloran been in at Celtic Park? Someone on Twitter reckons he’s been picking up his tickets for the Sarajevo game! But going back to what we said at the very start, your guess is as good as ours!

What a weird week it has been following Celtic. Haven’t even got round to writing about what Scott Allan has said.
