Want away Nice Star Romain Perraud drops massive Celtic hint

CELTIC target Romain Perraud today dropped a huge hint that he could be signing for the Scottish Champions. Both Celtic and French side Brest have submitted bids for the want-away Nice left back who spent last season on loan at FC Paris.

Indeed Celtic have had two confirmed bids rejected but a third one should do the trick especially with the player now agitating for a move.

Football writer Robin Barnier at Goal.com has this afternoon provided the following update:

“Celtic target Romain Perraud has been speaking to Onze: “I have proposals so it’s positive. I’m a little in the spotlight, but I belong to Nice so we’ll see. I can’t speak.”

“He does admit that playing Champions League football is his “ultimate goal”.

The reference to the Champions League is highly significant. Obviously Brest are not involved in that competition so as the only other known bidder it is looking increasingly like Perraud will be coming to Celtic, as of course you have already read on The Celtic Star this week.

‘Nice have missed the boat with me,’ Romain Perraud wants move ‘very quickly’

CHRISTOPHER JULLIEN is now a Celtic player and there’s progress on two of the other top targets plus some more news on the David Turnbull transfer saga.

The 27 year old central defender this morning completed his £7million move from Toulouse as Celtic tool top for the Ten. And Celtic are set to continue their summer spending spree in France by signing Nice left back Romain Perraud.

Celtic have already had two bids rejected for the 21 year old who spent last season out on loan at FC Paris and are still talking to the Cote d’Azur side who have been told into uncertain terms by Perraud that he wants a move.

Speaking to L’Equipe, Perraud gave an update on his situation and revealed that he is less than happy with his current club.

“I am under contract. I respect people but this season, I did not receive a single call when was I performing very well. I am not even speaking about a contract extension offer, just to have a catch-up with me.

“This is a difficult situation and I hope that it will ease off very quickly. I have no news from the current representatives but Nice have missed the boat with me. I want a new challenge,” Perraud said.

That new challenge looks like a straight choice between a move to Brest in Brittany or a chance to play on the bigger stage with Celtic in European football. As we told you earlier in the week Celtic are firm favourites to get this one over the line…continue reading HERE.

From Wednesday on The Celtic Star…

CELTIC interest in signing the Nice left back Romain Perraud, who spent last season out on loan at Paris FC, has not ended.

Neil Lennon travelled to Paris to watch Perraud personally at the end of April in a goalless draw against Valenciennes. Yesterday there were reports that the player’s wage demands were too high for Celtic but reports in France this morning indicate that Celtic remain interested and indeed are in pole position to sign the young defender.

“At Celtic, Jullien could find another Frenchman in the person of the young left side of Nice Romain Perraud, trained by @USColomiers. French colony expands after Edouard and Ntcham,” is the rough translation.
