MLS side eye deal for Celtic striker who has struggled since Parkhead move

New York Red Bulls are eyeing a loan deal for Celtic’s Patryk Klimala. The Polish attacker joined the club last January in a deal worth £3.5m from Jagiellonia Bialystock. Despite being tipped as one for the future, Klimala has struggled to take his chance in the first team having not scored since October.

Klimala has managed just five starting appearances so far this season but has been Celtic’s most used substitute coming off the bench, or more accurately in the Covid hit season on 22 occasions. According to The Scottish Sun, New York Red Bull are keen on bringing the Poland U21s attacker to the club – something that Celtic may be agreeable to in order to get the 22-year-old game time and his confidence back after a bruising year in Glasgow.

Klimala will be hoping to impress before the end of the season as he looks to stake his claim for a future at the club under the incoming management team. Eddie Howe is the favourite for the job and is believed to be in advanced talks with the club.

Meanwhile, former Celtic defender Jackie McNamara has hailed Howe’s experience and credentials for the Parkhead job as the 43-year-old remains in advanced talks.
