Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has spoken of his perfect start to life at Celtic after scoring a dramatic late winner against Livingston last night…

The match had been level at 1-1 after Robbie Muirhead converted from the spot to level Marcelo Saracchi’s first-half strike from outside the box.

However, newly signed midfielder Oxlade-Chamberlain – introduced from the bench with 10 minutes to play – produced a moment of quality by firing a curling effort into the net past Jerome Prior to seal all three points.

Post-match the former England international joined skipper Callum McGregor in addressing Celtic TV, describing his first for the Hoops as a fairytale start.
He said: “I was drawing that one up in the hotel room earlier; they are the things you dream of. Still at this age, late on in my career, moments like that are why we play this game; you never get bored of it.
“I’m delighted the club has given me the chance to be back on the pitch and put faith in me to have moments like that. Now that is my job: to add quality.”

Oxlade-Chamberlain added: “The boys had been knocking the door down for a long time. We have to learn that we need moments like that, bits of quality, and be more clinical to see games out. Great character from the boys, they stayed focused all the way through the game and got the job done.
“It’s everything. I saw it the other night, and it’s a special place. Tonight proved it. I’ve seen it over the years watching Celtic, and to feel that now – it’s a massive club. The fans play such a big role.”
“As players, it’s our job to keep inspiring them, keep them with us, and keep performing for them.”
Celtic now look ahead to Kilmarnock at Rugby Park on Sunday for what will be another tough test for the Scottish champions. Kilmarnock won 4-3 against St Mirren last night so will be full of confidence that they can take something off the Champions on their own plastic pitch. Kick-off in that one is 2pm with theRangers v Hearts game at Ibrox to follow.
