Anthony Joseph today reported via social media that a number of clubs in Italy, England, and Belgium are interested in Celtic youngster Rocco Vata.
It’s not surprising as the Irish youth international and son of former Celtic defender Rudi is a superb young talent and looks like going far in the game. Rocco has only one year remaining on his contract so it would be in the clubs best interests to tie the 18 year old down on a longer deal.
Rocco has impressed greatly for the Celtic B side and the Irish under 19s. He even made his first team debut from the bench at Easter Road last season. He appeared a few more times fleetingly as a sub, and could have made a few more if it wasn’t for injury towards the end of the season.
It’s not a surprise other clubs are sniffing around as he’s a brilliant talent. Hopefully the club are doing something about it and will offer the lad a new long term deal to warn off any potential suitors.
It’s imperative we keep our best young talent as we’ve lost a few the past couple of years to clubs with more financial pull down south and in Europe. Let’s hope that’s not the case with Rocco. Get it done Celtic.

He has one year left on his contract.
