Murdo MacLeod’s Ibrox Screamer

WHAT a game this was at Ibrox and the point Celtic eventually won would turn out to be absolutely crucial by the time we pitched up at Love Street on the last day of the season hoping for a miracle up at Dens Park.

Rangers started well but soon found themselves TWO goals down. A fine run by Paul McStay in 21 mins, and a great cross by Owen Archdeacon, Brian McClair mis-hit the ball and it fell to the feet of He Who Must Not be Named and Celtic were one up. Then on 29 minutes McClair fired the ball past Walker to double Celtic’s lead. Willie McStay was somewhat controversially sent off for a foul on McMinn in 33 minutes and a minute later Fraser pulled one back.

In the second half, Peter Grant replaced Archdeacon to make up for the loss of Willie McStay, and 2 minutes after the restart Tommy Burns scored Celtic’s third. However Rangers then scored three goals in 11 minutes to go ahead. However Celtic ten man Celtic refused to accept defeat and a stunning 30 yard drive from Murdo MacLeod earned a valuable point.
