‘My goal is to win the title at Celtic,’ Benkovic

Filip Benkovic is settling into his time at Celtic very well indeed and is enjoying being part of the Scottish Champions squad.

“The team is amazing. They have accepted me very well and I’m delighted to be here,” the on loan Croatian central defender said today at the Celtic press conference, ahead of tomorrow’s sold out encounter against Hibs at Celtic Park.

“I’m only concentrating on Celtic. My goal is to win the title here and make progress as a player,” Benkovic continued.

He started to see what Celtic is all about in the last game, when suddenly things started to click and the goals started to go in. The Leicester City loanee certainly was pleased with the team’s performance at Perth.

“I really enjoyed the St Johnstone game. We played good attacking football. It was perhaps the best game of the season.

“I just want to give my best. Hard work will pay off. I had some injury but I’m doing extra work to prepare my body for the highest level.”

With tough games against Hibs, Leipzig and Hearts in the cup semi-final and in the league at Celtic Park, Filip Benkovic will be a important player for Celtic.

Incidentally Leigh Griffiths didn’t train today so there could be a doubt about him for tomorrow.
