Neil Lennon considering ex-Celtic kid for No.2 role in Cyprus

Neil Lennon is considering making former Celtic teammate Mark Fotheringham his No.2 in Cyprus. The Irishman was appointed as Omonoia Nicosia manager yesterday and is considering the ex-Celtic youngster to join his backroom staff.

According to The Sun, Lennon wants Fotheringham as he looks to end the season strong with Omonoia. Lennon still has a Cyrpiot Cup to compete for with his side sitting in the Quarter Finals, even if they are in the bottom half post split.

Fotheringham spent time in 2010/11 in Cyprus and Lennon might see this as a plus point. Fotheringham recently spent time as a coach in Germany.

Fotheringham made his debut in Celtic’s 0-0 draw with St Johnstone at the end of the 1999-2000 season. However, the arrival of Martin O’Neill limited his outings thereafter to just two first-team appearances. The coach has knowledge of Cypriot, Scottish and German football, which would aid Lennon as he looks to put together a backroom staff.

One of Lennon’s close pals, Scott Brown, could be in line for a move to Cyprus too after the Celtic legend confirmed that he would be leaving Aberdeen to pursue coaching opportunities elsewhere. Lennon wasn’t able to pick his own backroom staff when he returned to Celtic and it appears that he is conducting the process for himself.
