Neil Lennon isn’t known for being passive, the Irishman will say what he thinks and wear his heart on his sleeve. He kicks every ball and endures every low whilst relishing every high associated with Celtic. Through his illustrious association with the club, Lennon has been involved in famous title wins as well as some days that will live in infamy. This season, as Celtic chase 10IAR, Neil Lennon’s side haven’t been their fluid selves, we have seen glimpses of the team that stormed their way to 9 but Rangers hold an enormous 19 point lead at the top of the table.
Despite that, Lennon told Celtic TV that his team were not giving up on the chance to make Scottish Football history by winning a tenth consecutive league title.
“We’re looking forward to the games and I think the players will be as well. We’ve got our targets got our incentives, we’ve got a lot to play for still. We haven’t given up on the league by any stretch of the imagination. We were going to have to be really on it from here on in and they’re capable of doing that.”
The three games in hand are must wins if Celtic are to win the league title – every game is a must win. Rangers face a tough run of fixtures this month but Lennon’s side need to win nineteen games in a row if they are to win the league. In doing so, Rangers will drop four points across their remaining games outside the Celtic clashes owing to the pressure. There is no need to worry about what they do, Celtic can only focus on themselves and hope that their winning of games is enough to create panic at Ibrox.
“I think we’ll have a very good half of the season.
“We’re looking for more like ourselves you know a lot more attacking intent and good energy. Really good will to win. Like I said, we didn’t get what we deserved. We dominated the game for long periods away from home, in a Derby of that magnitude speaks volumes for the performance and we’re bitterly disappointed not have won the game. But we need to set that aside and then get as many points in as many wins and rack them up as we go along as we can.
“We’ve been playing well and winning games up until the weekend. So we get back on the run, we’re capable of doing that. We need to make a quality count. I thought that was a good verve about us, a real belief, the lads set out the plan perfectly. And we were unfortunate and sometimes that’s something that’s missing when people analyse games.”
