Former Celtic manager Neil Lennon is on a shortlist of possible candidates for the Ipswich Town job. The much maligned Lennon’s career has hit a low-point after his disastrous overseeing of Celtic’s catastrophic ten-in-a-row season. Lennon has not helped matters in this respect by refuting any apportion of blame that was put his way.
Lennon has been on a bit of a hiatus from football management since he was relieved of duties in February after a dismal run saw Celtic falter to Ross County in the Highlands. He has tried to keep himself relevant by stoking the flames with the Celtic Support over a campaign that will be remembered for a the wrong reasons.
Now he is touting himself from the US to Israel and everywhere in between, claiming he has an affinity with the Holy Land. Spurious to say the least.
However, the most recent link comes via Scottish Sun, who claim Lennon is on a shortlist to become the new Ipswich Town boss. The Tractor Boys are languishing in 11th place in the League One table, after dismissing manager Paul Cook. They are now on the lookout for a new boss to help them climb the table.
Lennon would no doubt be interested in a job that is within the boundaries of the British Isles at such a prominent club in the English lower leagues. I would advise Ipswich to err not the side of caution will Lennyball and view a lengthy list of potential coaches before settling for Neil. He did the job in his first spell in charge as boss of Celtic but just could not motivate players to reach their full potential in his second spell.
