The Premier League team are on the lookout for potential reinforcements this January transfer window as they aim to improve their position in the league table. Eddie Howe has made no bones about the fact that he wants additions but may be forced to sell before he can buy due to financial constraints.

Kühn has undoubtedly shone for Celtic

The Magpies are said to be one of just many clubs who have been keeping a close eye on Celtic’s breakout star this campaign and Kühn has undoubtedly shone for the club. His exploits in the revamped format of the UEFA Champions League group stages will no doubt be the reason why many down south have had their heads turned to the man who has bagged 16 goals and 21 assists this season so far.

Germany call-up could happen soon

His form has been such that even a Germany cap had been touted and Julian Nagelsmann had admitted that Kühn is in his thought process, as he watches many players who may improve the national team, with the former Bayern Munich and Ajax star being one of several the coach has been looking at lately.

According to The Chronicle, Newcastle have been beefing up their scouting network in Scotland more generally and Kühn has certainly caught the eye; having been watched already by scouts from St James’ Park this term.

Although the report also states that whilst he has definitely caught the attention of the club, the player isn’t thought to be the first choice on the list, which may make the Celtic support relieved to hear and there is very little chance that Brendan Rodgers would sanction a transfer at this stage anyway.

I'm a Garngad Bhoy through and through. My first ever Celtic game was a friendly against Italian side Parma at Celtic Park, in 2002. Currently a student of English Literature and Education at the University of Strathclyde for my sins. Favourite game would be a toss up between beating Manchester United with that Naka freekick, or the game against the Oldco when Hesselink scored in the dying seconds. I'm still convinced Cal Mac is wasted playing that far back.
