The welcome news is that the Celtic CEO Michael Nicholson has stated that our new manager Wilfried Nancy will be backed in the transfer window. Let’s hope so as this Celtic squad clearly needs quality additions in January…

During the unveiling of Wilfried Nancy, Michael Nicholson claimed that the Frenchman will be backed by the club in the next transfer window, as he aims to mould his own side and philosophy over the next two and a half years.
Sorry to doubt you Michael, but…
Sorry to doubt you Michael, but why should we believe you? After all the last two transfer windows don’t exactly fill us with great optimism when we look at the list of failures and pathetic excuses – German tax laws, Brexit and so on – so why should we believe you will deliver now.
It may well be a case of third time lucky for you with no more of your self confessed mistakes and we certainly hope that you actually can deliver at the third time of asking.
January is always known as a notoriously tough window to get deals done, and with your track record in struggling to get deals over the line, many will share have my reasonable doubts that they will do anything differently in the weeks after the bells ring in to welcome 2026.
Wilfried Nancy needs backed
One thing is for certain, is that Wilfried Nancy needs backed if he is going to be successful at Celtic. It would be the same if Brendan Rodgers were still here too, the squad is in dire need of strengthening.

Our players have done well to be in the current position they are currently in. Martin O’Neill deserves credit for the short term surge in form but he too has said that the squad needs to be strengthened. The horrendous injury list we currently have puts more stress on the remaining players and the fixture list ahead of the window opening is relentless. They’ll be running on empty soon enough.

Celtic needs quality additions in January
So we are in urgent need of new quality additions, but I’m not alone in doubting whether we get the required recruits on board to help us, no matter what Michael Nicholson said this week. I hope that he does bring in the required recruits and that they hit the ground running.
That will not only help the team but also the healing process as Celtic is currently a family at war with itself.

Dearie me, been looking for chance since the summer, and now it’s happening, still looking for reasons to moan, with Nancy only in the door?
Surely your not trying to promote Nicholson, making the footballing decisions, that is going to be the responsibility of Nancy?
Even more nonsensical, where no-one even knows how Nancy even intends to set our team up?
There is a loads of work to be done, regarding assessment of players, despite such an injury list in operation.
Huge decisions to be taken, despite having the prospect of only 3 changes to the current so called dire squad in place?
Who needs the Scottish media to slag off our players, when we are becoming so well of doing the job ourselves at present?
Hopefully Nancy can be far more decisive in his decision making, and looking for excuses being provided for the likes becoming rank rotten?
Hopefully more flexibility is added within our team structure, with such a vast difference in how teams set up against ourselves, with the quality factor involved.
And even more so, that our players buy into Nancy and his methods. So continue with the confidence MoN and Maloney were able to install back into our players, which Rodgers was doing a very decent job of destroying for some time also?
Way to many questions within our squad exists at present, hampered even more so, with the decisions involved, just to see out this season alone. Nancy hopefully can find the potential answers, that will be required for ourselves?
Getting in early, and continuing the blame game, isn’t the way we should be looking at things imo?
Nancy is possibly tasked with the biggest job, any of our managers have had to undertake, especially with not even at the mid season stage.
With the amount of huge decisions involved, then very little chance of Nancy getting all the solutions to his liking in January either imo?
Possibly will be until the summer before we will get the full impact of whatever changes Nancy has in mind for ourselves?
Keeping hold of players during January, could be just as important as bringing in new additions, and that’s where we currently find ourselves as a club.
Getting a good working relationship between Nancy, Tisdale and Nicholson remains key for ourselves come January.
Wasn’t in operation during the summer, yet the defence of Rodgers continues, with the blaming of Nicholson for the likes?
What will be the excuses come the end of January, if the resolutions to the existing problems are actually found?
For some it sounds like, they would prefer if the solutions aren’t found, and quite happy to sit in the overall problems that have been placed upon ourselves imo?
