No need for a new striker at Celtic as coaching staff convinced fringe player will excel next season

It’s natural that fans will expect a new signing to contribute immediately, but sometimes it’s important to have some patience.

It looked like Patryk Klimala was signed in January to give him a chance to settle in ahead of next season, and his playing time was always going to be minimal due to Eddy and Griffiths.

Celtic have been linked with a lot of strikers this summer even though it appears that Eddy won’t be going anywhere, but this report from Football insider suggests they may not need to sign anyone else.

They claim that Celtic’s coaching staff are expecting the £3.5m signing to come good next season, with a source inside the club telling them that Lenny in convinced he can become a regular match-winner too.

That should rule out any possibility of him going out on loan to gain experience next season, and it will be interesting to see how often he plays.

We’ve only seen glimpses of him since arriving, but he appears to have some pace and his movement was impressive at times.

He’s never been incredibly prolific so he might not be seen as a regular goalscorer, but he could find a place on the left hand side of the attack after Mohamed Elyounoussi returned to Southampton.

The report suggests he’s looked sharp in Celtic’s return to training so far and clearly the manager has some confidence in him, so hopefully he does get more chances to prove himself next season.
