Nomme Kalju stun Shkendija to set up meeting with Celtic or Sarajevo

ESTONIAN Champions Nomme Kalju stunned Shkendija in the second leg of the First Round Qualifier today to set up a second round tie with the winners of the Celtic and Sarajevo tie, which will be decided under the Disco Lights at a sold out Celtic Park tomorrow night.

A late penalty last week from the Macedonian Champions gave them a 1-0 away victory and appeared to put them in the driving seat for the second leg. But rather than feeling sorry for themselves Nomme Kalju pulled off a stunning 2-1 win today to win the tie on the away goals rule.

Celtic will be looking to win the right to play the Estonians in the second leg and that means finishing the job at Celtic Park tomorrow evening. Celtic hold a 3-1 lead after goals from Mikey Johnston, Odsonne Edouard and Scotty Sinclair in the Bosnian capital last Tuesday.

Matt Corr has written a powerful piece about the joy in following Celtic and the horrors of war that ravaged Sarajevo in the 1990s when the world sat back and watched but did little to intervene. It is a stunning piece and is worthy of your attention.
