Norwegian pundit tells Celtic fans what to expect from new signing

Norwegian pundit Jan Age Fjørtoft has given Celtic supporters an update of what to expect from Odin Thiago Holm following the announcement of his signing from Valerenga. The 20-year-old penned a five-year-deal to become the first signing of Brendan Rodgers’ second spell in charge.

Taking to Twitter, Fjørtoft has told the Celtic support what to expect from the youngster that was named in the Golden Boy long list.

“Despite his young age (20), he demonstrates exceptional insight and maturity in the game. He possesses a remarkable level of skill with various types of play.

“He thrives in a deep role, but he has also shown progress as a one-on-one offensive player and has become increasingly adept at bypassing opponents with his improved passing abilities.

“Areas for his development include improving his agility and speed on the field, as well as enhancing his ability to win the ball in tight matches. While he relies heavily on his ability to read plays and anticipate ball movement, he could benefit from strengthening his physical presence in close encounters.

“Moreover, he is a pleasant individual who may come across as slightly sarcastic when interacting with others. However, he is genuinely calm and intelligent.”

Holm will look to take his career to the next stage with a manager renowned for improving and cultivating young talent. The central-midfielder joins from Eliteserien club Valerenga, where he scored 13 times and assisting 5 times in 91 appearances. In a video that was posted on Twitter, the youngster, who adds competition to Celtic’s midfield, is shown to have great composure as well as a willingness to carry the ball forward.

Meanwhile, Rodgers gave his first interview since being re-appointed as Celtic manager earlier this week. The Irishman was delighted at the signing of Holm as well as the wider recruitment model that has been imposed by the club under Michael Nicolson and Mark Lawwell’s watch.

It is clear that the recruitment team has been continuing to identify and appraise potential new targets to bring them to the club, fitting into the profile of players that can succeed at the club.
