Benjamin Nygren proving his worth once again. He’s a player who divides opinions among the Celtic support but for me and more importantly for Brendan Rodgers, he is very highly rated indeed…

Benjamin Nygren once again contributed to our cause by suppling an assist for Kelechi Iheanacho’s fine goal in Belgrade last night, not to mention several other chances that could well have been converted.
To date the Sweden international midfielder has registered seven goal contributions (three goals plus four assists) in his ten competitive appearances thus far as we sit top of the standings, secured a place in the Premier Sports League cup semi-finals (where we’ll take on theRangers in a Glasgow Derby at Hampden Park on Sunday 2 November) and made a decent start to our Europa League campaign.

Benji has more than played his part in our steady if unspectacular start to the campaign, and it’s only right he gets the recognition for the contribution and ability he brings to the side.
Critics will point to certain flaws, but what player hasn’t got any faults in their game? Benji is a young international with a great future in the game. We should be grateful that he’s going to be spending the next few years at least as a Celtic player. He’s been learning the system and what’s expected of him and will undoubtedly have to work on his defensive duties especially in the Europa League matches and of course the Glasgow Derby matches.

However Swedish international is already becoming a vital cog in Brendan’s system, and to say he doesn’t contribute to the side in a positive way is daft. Clearly he’s not the finished article yet and is a player that Brendan Rodgers will look to develop so for me Benji Nygren is a Celtic star in the making.
Watch him get better and better!

You seem to have more confidence than myself, as to whether we are going to get the best out of our preferred midfield 3 in place at present?
As a unit in the midfield areas, we still can get over run in the midfield areas, especially in transition.
Obviously that calls into question in how our structure in team shape and formation is set up?
We are entering our 5th season now, with the same formation in place, and starting to look to worn in that regards imo.
The question still remains as to whether Rodgers can get any more out of the 5 who have been in place for over a year now, within the system of play within our midfield areas?
In that regards, still say no, so placing any blame upon nygren at present isn’t justified imo.
Wouldn’t rule out scapegoats being formed, with a system of play that potentially won’t get the best results from the 6 options we have available to ourselves.
Hopefully we might see some changes on Saturday, for the starting 3, especially as it is starting to look that it is a requirement against better opposition.
Still to easy to play through for my liking, and placing more pressure upon our defence, who done decent enough last night, in stopping the amount of problems these areas can cause ourselves, when not in total control of a match
