On This Day: Happy Birthday to Celtic legend Chris Sutton

On This Day, former Celtic striker Chris Sutton was born. The big man turns 51 today.

After arriving from Chelsea in a £6m deal, Sutton made 199 appearances for the club, scoring 86 times. The centre forward would go on to win four titles, three Scottish Cups and one League Cup during his time at the club along with playing in a European final as well as the Champions League. Sutton also had successful spells with Norwich and Blackburn Rovers, where he won the Premier League title spearheading the attack with Alan Shearer in Kenny Dalglish’s side.

Here are some of Sutton’s best bits:

Sutton is revered by Celtic fans for his time at the club under Martin O’Neil, where he enjoyed prolific relationships with John Hartson and Henrik Larsson. Since swapping the pitch for the studios and gantries around the UK, Sutton is never far from controversy often delivering fairly accurate assessments of clubs, managers and players that are misfiring. Now, Sutton works between BBC and Sky Sports, where he regularly has to put up with Kris Boyd.
