On This Day: Hilarious footage from Bar72 as Celtic win late against Rangers

Today marks fifteen years since Celtic beat Rangers 2-1 in Paradise to keep Gordon Strachan’s title push alive. As we all know, Celtic mounted an incredible comeback that season and managed to topple Rangers on the last day with a famous win at Tannadice.

However, this game was seen as a catalyst for Celtic’s victory as well as the downfall of Rangers, who went into the game four points ahead and with two games in hand. Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink struck deep into injury time to give the Celts the vital three points. Nakamura’s first-half strike had given Strachan’s side the lead before Nacho Novo struck back with an hour on the clock.

A tense final third included various spurned chances as well as Scott McDonald’s missed penalty. However, McDonald managed to redeem himself by heading the ball back across the face of goal for Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink to get the final touch.

This sparked mental scenes in the Celtic end. Although, some of the best scenes came across the city in Bar 72 at Ibrox Stadium. Here, Rangers supporters watched on as Big Jan scored a late winner to pull back into contention for the league title.
