On This Day: Season-defining win with Ralson’s 97th min winner at Dingwall

On This Day in 2021, Celtic secured a vital win on the road against Ross County. The late win in the 97th minute meant that Celtic would limit the gap with then-league leaders Rangers to just four points.

Ralston scored a late goal as Celtic recorded all three points on a pivotal night in The Highlands. Liel Abada and Jack Baldwin had the sides level before Carl Starfelt was harshly sent off for two ‘bookable’ offences by Alan Muir. Although with the game looking like ebbing out with the sides sharing the points, Tom Rogic clipped the ball to the back post where Ralston rose highest and netted the ball sparking jubilant scenes.

It would be a vital win for the team as it epitomized the mantra of never stopping under Ange. Celtic were down to their bare bones with injuries and going down to ten men seemed to signify that points would be dropped. The three points pushed Celtic into the League Cup Final with Hibernian with morale high and belief growing that the season could be a success.
