One big surprise as SPFL announce Post Split fixtures

The SPFL this afternoon announced the post-split fixtures and there was one surprise at the beginning with Celtic heading up the A9 to Dingwall to play Ross County on Sunday 24 April rather than as widely expected opening with a home match against theRangers.

That though is the second match after the split on when Celtic are at home to theRangers in The Glasgow Derby that kicks off at mid-day. That’s followed another home match – this time against Hearts on Saturday 7 May (kick-off 12 Noon) – before Celtic’s final away game of the season up at Tannadice against Dundee United on Wednesday 11 May (kick-off is 7.30pm). And Celtic’s last game of this season’s Scottish Premiership campaign takes place on Saturday 14 May against Motherwell and all going well that will be trophy day at Paradise, kick-off at 12.15pm.

Celtic go into the split six points ahead of theRangers and with a goal difference advantage of plus 19.

Meanwhile theRangers are away to Motherwell in their first post split match, ahead of their second visit of the season to Celtic Park. They then Dundee United at Ibrox the day after Celtic play Hearts at Celtic Park – and the title could be done and dusted by that point. Their last two games are at home to Ross County and they finish up with a trip through to Edinburgh to play Hearts at Tynecastle.

Here are the Celtic fixtures…

  1. That’s so we canny end their title hopes once and for all, lets them think that Old Firm FC still has a glimmer of hope, nuggets
