Jose Mourinho has arrived in Rome as the legendary Portuguese boss takes over at AS Roma. In typical Mourinho fashion, he has ruffled a few feathers on arrival by excluding eight players from first-team training as he does not see them as part of his plans moving forward. One player that sticks out is Swedish Internationalist Robin Olsen.
According to Sky Italia, Mourinho has told Olsen that he is free to leave as he pursues Rui Patricio from Wolves as his No.1.
After an impressive Euros, Olsen had been linked with West Ham but David Moyes has since targetted Areola from PSG, meaning that the 31-year-old could be able to make a move to Celtic, for a fraction of his value. A number of clubs will likely be interested in the 6ft 4 goalie.
However, Celtic would offer the opportunity for Olsen to play regular European football while competing for trophies. Olsen spent a year with Everton on-loan last season, making just 11 appearances. Most moves that have been suggested for Olsen appear to make him the second-choice goalkeeper but a move to Celtic would give him a real shot of becoming the No.1.
Celtic have struggled to replace the experience of Fraser Forster and Craig Gordon with Vasilis Barkas struggling to settle in. The new manager seems to be giving Barkas a chance to redeem himself but he will know that if options like Olsen become available, he could find himself in danger of dropping out of the first team.
Another top player who we will probably miss out on as our usual dilly dallying let’s other clubs jump in and grab them as usually happens with CELTIC.
Do yourself a favour Lubo…stop buying into the bs media reports of players Celtic never get. This is a NOTHING story. Any decent players won’t be coming to CP if they any sense, for one they will be offered sh1te wages and made promised renaged upon as is standard with us. No, stop helping the board spread hype please, the main concern is cash in the Hip..NOT on the park…
To many top brass sticking their oars in instead of penny pinching let the managers and staff get the players that They need that’s what they are paid to do you would be surprised what bargains they could get that would build a good team up
