Ordinary Bhoy: Adam Idah needs to start justifying his price tag

I fully support Adam Idah, but he’s got to start justifying his huge fee. I’m confident he will do just that. The Irishman wasn’t exactly welcomed with open arms when he joined the club on loan back in January.

Struggling for game time with Norwich City, the Irish international wasn’t exactly seen as the answer to our striking dilemma.

That soon changed after he played a major part in securing the double last season. The majority of his goals were vital to us winning the title, and he of course grabbed the winner in the Scottish Cup Final against the Rangers.

That made Adam a popular figure among the Celtic supporters and they urged the club to bring him back to Glasgow permanently.

After many failed bids the club sanctioned what was believed to be around £9 million for the Irish internationals signature. That was a big outlay for a player who most seen as merely a ‘back up’ but it signaled the club’s intent to hand Brendan Rodgers the quality he craved.

It would be fair to say that Adam hasn’t lived up to that big outlay yet. He’s scored a few goals mainly from the bench, but when he’s started he’s not looked like a £9 million player by any stretch.

It’s vital that Adam continues to work hard and the goals will come as he can continue to justify his huge price tag. That’s not a criticism, that’s just a fact, and I for one am pretty confident he will do just that.

  1. They paid double what his true value is. Nobody else was interested in him so for Celtic to keep getting knocked back then going to £9m. Norwich fans at time said theyd take £3m if he doesnt want to be at Norwich. Celtic bid £4m for Kvistgaarden, got knocked back & didnt return with increased offer. Kvistgaarden linked with Ajax, Bayer Leverkeusen, Eintracht Frankfurt, Bologna, Torino. Brondby said his price set at £8m (in summer) yet Celtic pay more for a guy not cutting it at Norwich wanted by no other clubs. Kvistgaarden value set at £12m now after being on fire since we signed Idah.

    • You lot are never happy!
Maybe you should move across the city and take your negativity with you.
You spend most of the close season screaming “it doesn’t matter what they want for him, we have the money!” “Pay it and stop being so cheap”.
Then when we do, you bitch and complain that we spent too much!
You really don’t have a clue!

  2. Engels REALLY needs tae justfy his price tag, Idah is & has .. leave the Bhoy alone!
Engels’s price tag is the only thing keepin him in the team & it’s wrong!
Both Bernardo & McCowan done mare in less game time.

  3. Short memories, eh? Stressed out and calling it a crisis in the close season while we negotiated for the players Brendan Rodgers wanted and now moaning that we haven’t got value for money.

It’s not quite hypocritical but it’s pretty damn close.
