Our Sacred Hart defended by Trevor Sinclair in row with talkSPORT host Simon Jordan

Trevor Sinclair has defended former England number one and Celtic hero Joe Hart on talkSPORT. The ex-Man City forward leapt to the defence of Hart after Jim White’s co-host and outspoken pundit Simon Jordan lambasted Joe for his recent career exploits. Even White – with his obvious affiliations – found the need to stand up for the absent Hart as the ex-Crystal Palace chairman and owner was excoriating in his assessment of Joe’s current status.

Always the contrarian, Jordan tore into his recent record as a goalkeeper and claimed that the former England international shouldn’t live off of past glories. This all comes after Joe Hart revealed that his old Tottenham Hotspur coach, Nuno Espirito Santo was very brusque and abrupt with him following his arrival in the chair Josè Mourinho vacated.

The manager is reputed to have told Hart he is too old and too slow and that he would never be a goalkeeper in his side for these reasons. Accordingly, Joe was rather irate at the Portuguese coach and found him to be quite obnoxious.

Jordan agreed with the assessment of Nuno and insisted there would be no joy in sugarcoating things when the player had no chance to play under him. However, the Englishman went even further as to discredit Joe completely as a goalkeeper and that’s when Trevor found the need to step in and correct the host on a few points. Correctly pointing out that everywhere Joe has went near enough has had excellent ‘keepers on the books; LIoris at Spurs, Pope at Burnley and West Ham with Fabianski.

He also made the point that Joe has resurrected his career up in Scotland playing in the cinch Premiership – although that fell on deaf ears as per usual with English pundits. The fact of the matter is that Joe was never going to oust the France number one and the current England number two.

Sinclair rightly rebuked Simon Jordan’s assertion on not being respectful when informing players they are not in the manager’s plans also. “There’s ways of going about it”, Trevor said and he is spot on. Joe may not be the player he once was, but he was still England number one for a long period of time and won Premier League with Manchster City.

He has rebuilt himself up in Glasgow with Celtic and absolutely loves the fans, as they him. All too often pundits like Jordan wish to take pot shots at people they perceive to be finished. Unlucky on this occasion I’m afraid Simon. Joe is doing just fine and Celtic Football Club are the beneficiaries of that. His form this season has been as steady as they come, all while shoring up a backline that was in tatters at the end of last season.

If Celtic win the league title back this year at the first time of asking, it will be in no small part due to the influence ofc.

I'm a Garngad Bhoy through and through. My first ever Celtic game was a friendly against Italian side Parma at Celtic Park, in 2002. Currently a student of English Literature and Education at the University of Strathclyde for my sins. Favourite game would be a toss up between beating Manchester United with that Naka freekick, or the game against the Oldco when Hesselink scored in the dying seconds. I'm still convinced Cal Mac is wasted playing that far back.
