Ii had the privilege to have Bertie as my house guest when he was over in Canada, great company and a true ambassador for Celtic. At our club in st.catharines he had time for everyone, what a player, and gentleman.

  2. Will never forget the Saturday my wife and i went into the Celtic store at Celtic park about 9/10 seasons ago,the weather was horrendous it was coming down in sheets and we went into browse with our 10 yr old grandaughter before going to the game. The store was mobbed and we got separated while browsing, anyway i eventually find my wife chatting to an old guy who had his back to me and was shaking himself down due to having just come in from the pouring rain, when he turned round it was non other than Bertie Auld.My wife who told me later she knew his face was familiar but hadn’t recognised Bertie for who he was a club icon a Lisbon Lion but here he was chewing the fat with my wife as though he stayed across the close from her.He bid us farewell but not before uttering “what we like coming out in the pishing rain to go and watch that pish in there” while gesturing towards the stadium.Bertie is just like Tommy Burns was one down to earth bonafide LEGEND.
