Was it just a point scoring exercise over their rivals due to their own sides repeated failures? Was it due to the pain and anguish of living through the demise of Rangers FC which was liquidated in 2012, and praying that something similar might happen to Celtic? On their biggest forum there has been well over 51k comments in a thread about the settlement being reached by Celtic FC and the victims. You can read the thread HERE.
Thompsons, the solicitors for the victims, are being attacked for accepting such low levels of compensation for each victim. When it was explained by a forum member with clear legal knowledge and understanding of how compensation figures would be calculated after a successful trial and that Thompsons would have expert knowledge of the likely pay-out that would have been awarded then they would have to recommend settlement. Worse for the victims would be to refuse the settlement only to be awarded a lower sum than Celtic FC offered.

This would then mean that the incredibly high legal costs of the trial including Celtic’s fees would be payable by the victims themselves. Clearly the informed poster understood that Thompsons had got the best possible deal for the victims and representing their best interest advised that it was time to settle. The fantasy of each victim receiving multiple millions of pounds in compensation and bankrupting Celtic in the process that they have held onto for years was decimated by a dose or reality. So back to that question…
Could it be that it wasn’t about the victims after all?
Yes would be the correct answer to all of the above. They don’t care a jot about the victims, and the fury they have shown that the case has been settled without any huge financial disaster inflicted upon Celtic football club proves just that.
That’s what their warped minds hoped would happen, they were desperate for it. The fact they are so angered by the fact it hasn’t badly damaged Celtic football club in a financial way tells you just that. They have even started calling for sporting sanctions to be forced upon the club, and now everyone, not just the Celtic supporters can see them for the depraved and deranged individuals they really are.

There’s also no compassion or sympathy for the child abuse victims at Rangers FC and remember was a few years ago told by the ‘club’ to go see this liquidators of the company that used to own the club. Thompons have multiple class actions ongoing against football clubs and institutions in Scottish football on behalf of victims of child abuse, including against Rangers.

They know no shame, Ordinarybhoy.
Excellent report. I was aware that The Ranjurs were being investigated, but not aware of the statement you provided.
Anyone with an an ounce of sense or decency should be feeling compassion for all players that were affected in whatever way, and when I say anyone – I mean supporters of every club. So hopefully supporters of The Ranjurs will acknowledge that Celtic FC are not the only club that did wrongs. As a Celtic supporter it is horrible to see our club being continually tarnished by Scottish Media and opposition fans, but we are realistic people and we have now accepted that this happened.
I just wish fans from other clubs and media would also accept we were not the only ones.
This is so crass!
Pull this point scoring nonsense now and have a word with yourself!
Get off your high horse, it’s an opinion piece and it makes so many valid points.
