According to Football Scotland, Celtic remain interested in a move for Liverpool left back Owen Beck, whom they have been tracking since October, a month after The Celtic Star flagged up the Liverpool loanee as looking like an ideal signing candidate for Brendan Rodgers.

Any decision to loan out Beck again remains in Liverpool’s hands, with the Merseyside club recalling Beck from his loan spell at Dundee this month due to the injuries picked up by Kostas Tsmikias and Andrew Robertson.

Celtic must play the waiting game until a decision is made by Liverpool, with Football Scotland also reporting that Jurgen Klopp is keen to keep hold of Beck due to his side’s injury crisis at left back.

It is also understood Liverpool would be willing to let the 21-year-old out on loan if he does not feature this month, but a move to another club in England is more likely. However, not all hope is lost in Celtic’s chances of landing Beck this window.

According to the Daily Mail, Andrew Robertson is reportedly “progressing well and is ramping up work on the training pitch”, suggesting a return to first team training as early as the end of this month is possible.

A fit Andrew Robertson before the closure of the January transfer window could tempt Liverpool to allow Beck to move elsewhere, which is possibly good news for Celtic.

The Welsh u21 international was one of the standout players in the league in the first half of the season, and could be tempted to return to Scotland with Celtic by former Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers. Beck has had the chance to play at Celtic Park and has also faced the Champions at Dens Park on Boxing Day so will have a taste of what it would be like to wear the Hoops.

Only time will tell whether Beck will be allowed to leave Merseyside, but if he is, Celtic should be rolling out all the stops to the land the highly rated left back.
