Paddy Power’s brilliant Rangers troll after Man Utd lose 7-0 at Anfield

Paddy Power are notoriously famous for trolling people and football teams with their adverts and general social media activity. Never shy to use their global platform to use satire about certain issues or problems revolving around particular individuals, they famously employed Rhodri Giggs to head one of their advertisements on television to dismiss the idea of loyalty – owing of course to the fact the his brother Ryan was engaged in an extra-marital affair with his wife for years behind his back.

Stuff such as that kind of sets the tone for how to the bone they can get and have done some screamers in the past. That’s why when it comes to football fans, it’s kind of small fry after the whole Giggs affair (pardon the pun). But each one they do is hysterical and well thought out by the first class comedians they have running their official Twitter account.

This time, they have poked fun at theRangers abysmal European record this year as they finished bottom of their group in the UEFA Champions League with zero points. They officially became the worst team in Champions League group stage history and their fans haven’t had a much better time domestically this year either, if truth be told.

Just the other day, UEFA’s official admin account trolled the 11-year-old club too, as they posted two of the heaviest defeats in the competition this year which the Ibrox club was on the receiving end of. One of those was a 4-0 hammering by Ajax at home, then the other was a 7-1 thumping by Liverpool in Govan too.

Well, they last night decided to troll the tribute act again, in the aftermath of Liverpool’s 7-0 demolition of Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United at Anfield. Take a look at this one…

I doubt they’ll be best pleased, considering result in Paisley earlier in the day. Their wee hopes were all raised by half-time, bless them…

I'm a Garngad Bhoy through and through. My first ever Celtic game was a friendly against Italian side Parma at Celtic Park, in 2002. Currently a student of English Literature and Education at the University of Strathclyde for my sins. Favourite game would be a toss up between beating Manchester United with that Naka freekick, or the game against the Oldco when Hesselink scored in the dying seconds. I'm still convinced Cal Mac is wasted playing that far back.
