As hard as they tried, Celtic just couldn’t get the better of their rivals today in their quest to put an end to theRangers’ unbeaten run. A well worked goal from the Bhoys’ strikeforce in the first half was nulled after some shocking (or not shocking, given how frequent it has been this season) defending from a corner, which allowed Alfredo Morelos to finally score his first goal against Celtic in fifteen games.
That being said, there were plenty of bright sparks. It was without doubt the best performance in a derby this season given the dross that was churned out in this season’s previous fixtures. David Turnbull, Diego Laxalt and more produced fine performances, but one man in particular caught the eye; Mohamed Elyounoussi.
The scorer of Celtic’s first derby goal in over a year, he linked up brilliantly with Odsonne Edouard for the opener and could’ve had at least one more – something which Celtic fans were delighted about and picked up on as they reacted gleefully on social media.
Controversial opinion:
Elyounoussi has a better header of the ball than Drogba in his prime.

Pay the money for Elyounoussi. A decent manager will get the best out of him.

Are you serious bringing Elyounoussi off before Christie

This is the best I’ve seen Elyounoussi play.
Gets a lot of criticism, but has been Celtic’s most dangerous player today IMO.

See for next season. Please please please buy Elyounoussi

Elyounoussi would be a very welcome addition at Celtic Park should a fee be agreed with his parent club Southampton, and under a permanent manager who is proven to blossom in attack, he could do even better than today’s performance.
