Pep Guardiola considers former Celtic and Arsenal defender for top job

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is reportedly considering Kolo Toure for a role as his Assistant Manager. The legendary Spanish manager is eager to make some changes after a rare trophyless season.

As per Fabrizio Romano on Twitter, Toure and ex-Liverpool No.2 Pep Lijnders are being considered by Guardiola.

Toure, formerly of Arsenal and Man City, played under Rodgers at Liverpool and Celtic before joining him on his coaching staff in Glasgow. The former Ivory Coast Internationalist followed Rodgers to the English Premier League in February 2019 before departing in 2022 for Wigan Athletic.

The move to The Latics didn’t go to plan and he soon found himself out of management. Although, this opportunity would see Toure work with Guardiola to return City back to the top of English football.

Toure made 17 appearances for Celtic during the Invincible season before hanging up his boots. The 44-year-old made his name at Arsenal, where he enjoyed success, as well as Man City and Liverpool. Toure is fondly remembered at City, who he helped win the Premier League with in 2012.
